AC boys, HHS boys and girls win state bowling titles

Members of the Hastings High boys team celebrate after
winning the Class B Nebraska High School Bowling Federation
state championship Sunday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.

LINCOLN — High school bowlers from Hastings invaded the capital city over the weekend.

For three teams, the weekend ended in the ultimate fashion.

The Hastings High boys and girls teams claimed Class B team titles at the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation state tournament Sunday afternoon, while the Adams Central boys bowling team took the Class C crown.

"It means the world to us," Adams Central senior Jordan Nash said. "Our goal at the beginning of the season was just to get to the second day and bowl on TV. To win it and especially that way, in five sets, it was unbelievable. It means the world to me."

The Adams Central girls in Class C and both the St. Cecilia girls and boys in Class D teams also qualified for the state tournament but didn't advance to Sunday's finals. The Doniphan-Trumbull girls also were represented at state in Class D.
