The Adams Central Board of Education gave a thumbs up to support the future of the AC tennis program.
The board voted 4-1 in favor of the $375,925 contact with Renner Sports Surfaces of Denver to build a six-court tennis complex at the high school. Ryan Weeks dissented and Chad Trausch was absent.
With approval of the contract, dirt work will start soon with the project set to be completed by July 15.
The meeting started with public comments from parents and coaches in support of having tennis courts on site.
"It's one thing to send your kid cross country to Adams Central. And it's another thing to have them drive through Hastings during some of the busier times of day," parent Mark Nelson said. "It's a whole different situation."
