STC defense shuts down Sutton

Last season, the St. Cecilia and Sutton girls basketball teams met in the first round of the Class C-2 state tournament. Offense came in bunches for both squads, and the Hawkettes pulled away for a 50-34 win.

Thursday night at Chapman Gymnasium — the last night of the regular season for high school basketball — those two teams met once again but the result was drastically different.

Class C-2 No. 3 St. Cecilia’s defense harassed the Fillies’ offense, which only hit 9-of-35 field goals, in a 42-22 win
