New data to be presented

The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce’s Retail Development Committee is looking to share recent data gathered about the retail environment in Hastings.

A brief update was given Wednesday at the chamber’s annual banquet at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

Corey Stutte, owner of Strategic Pioneer, has been developing data from a recent survey about the shopping habits of people in Hastings. Stutte said the data also includes information about area residents who travel 20, 40 or 60 miles to shop in Hastings.
“It will provide a better understanding of what stores we need and what stores we have a good amount of,” he said.

Businesses will be invited on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month between March and July to share information from nine retail categories. Stutte said businesses can develop strategies and share ideas about different ways to serve consumers and recruit new businesses to fill any gaps.

“In today’s world, data is power,” he said. “Things are looking up for Hastings, and I think we have a lot to be proud of.”.
