UPLAND — Things got heated following a public meeting Wednesday afternoon at the post office here to discuss hours of operation for the office in the future.
"We did have a couple customers attend the meeting yesterday and after our community meeting was over they wished to voice some complaints, which they had made sometime last year — probably summer, fall — concerning some mishandling of mail," said Ed Goforth, manager of post office operations based in Grand Island. "They felt the mail was being rifled, damaged, that kind of stuff."
Goforth said such complaints are fairly common.
One of the postal customers who attended the Wednesday meeting claimed the FBI was involved in the investigation. Not true, Goforth said.
"Our situation in Upland had gone to a greater level than normal complaints," he said. "We unfortunately had a threat made to one of our postal employees in Upland by a customer there."
