Adams Central wins own invite

Friday.

Despite suffering more injuries, the Adams Central wrestling team dominated the competition at its home invite.

The Patriots totaled 202 points on Friday at Patriot Gymnasium, beating second-place Holdrege by 59 points.

"We lost another wrestler this week to a shoulder injury — Dylan Gilliland is out. We're down four guys. You never know how the kids are going to step up and respond," said Adams Central head coach Dan Lonowski. "Luke Zulkuski came through at 182, but he weighs 163 and he won a couple matches for us. Those points matter, too. Even if they're not up on the medal stand they still count.

"Whenever you win one of these it's a team effort. Devin Gilliland came through and got third at 106, so we're wrestling well."

South Central placed eighth at the meet with 77 1/2 points. Superior (53) was 10th and Harvard was 11th with 47 points.
