ROSELAND — The Silver Lake girls basketball team came out strong in the opening half Tuesday night to advance to the semifinal round of the Twin Valley Conference Tournament.

Silver Lake beat the Harvard Cardinals 57-27 in a game played in Roseland.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-2 lead early in the opening period. But that was until junior Joslyn Grabill found her stride, scoring the next seven points for the Mustangs.

Grabill scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the opening period. The Mustangs took 18-7 lead after the first quarter.

“We came out and played hard and took care of the ball a lot better than the last time we played them,” Silver Lake head coach Joshua Drake said. “We focused on attacking them going north and south instead of east and west.”

The Mustangs continued to dominate in the second quarter, shooting 8-of-8 from the charity strip.
