ZIMMERMAN: Timberwolves hot at right time

The goal for any Nebraska high school girls basketball team is to put itself into a position where it can get to Lincoln in late February.

That's easier said than done.

But lately, Exeter-Milligan is believing it can do just that. The Class D-1 No. 6 Timberwolves have won their past seven games, which included a tough run toward a Crossroads Conference tournament championship.

In the current streak, Exeter-Milligan has knocked off Hampton (11-6) and Giltner (14-6) twice. The Timberwolves held off the Hornets 47-34 in the conference title game on Jan. 25 before knocking them off again in its next regular season game.
