Hastings High's Tanner Johnson drives against Crete's Colton
Steer Tuesday night in Hastings.
After having a slight advantage on the scoreboard after the first three quarters of its game against Crete, the Hastings High boys basketball team failed to close in the fourth.
The Cardinals (9-11) outscored the Tigers 16-11 in the last period to post a 48-44 win Tuesday night at HHS.
The Tigers found ways to maintain a lead throughout the first 24 minutes of the contest, but little miscues led to the Tigers' demise in the last eight.
Crete went 8-of-11 from the line in the last quarter, as the Tigers put themselves in foul trouble. But that wasn't the only problem for HHS.
After holding Crete to just 17 points in the first half, the Cardinals rallied by outscoring the Tigers 31-23 in the second half.
