It’s time bowling becomes official


Bowling is exploding in popularity across Nebraska.

There have been as many as 96 high school teams competing throughout four classes, and even colleges like Hastings College are getting on board.
The state championships, set to begin Saturday, are televised each year on Nebraska Educational Television — no other state does that.

If a bowler is in trouble at school or in the community, he or she faces the same suspensions or other disciplinary actions that other high school athletes adhere to.

With all that being said, it should floor you that bowling isn’t recognized as a sport by the Nebraska Schools Activities Association.
