Jenscena Hansen had 23 points and nine rebounds to propel the Deshler Lady Dragons (17-2) past the Silver Lake Mustangs (10-8) with a 46-30 win Thursday in the semifinals of the Twin Valley Conference Tournament.
Leading 25-17 at halftime, the Dragons would set the tone for the second half on their opening possession. Deshler would put up four shots from around the field and grab four offensive rebounds. Hansen grabbed the final board and kissed her shot off the glass to put Deshler up 27-17 with 6:15 left in the third quarter.
“It was definitely a good start,” Deshler head coach Heath Birkel said. “We always believe that in the first and second halves, one of the keys in the game is getting off to a good start. To get four offensive rebounds in that opening possession, definitely helped.”
