GRAND ISLAND — St. Cecilia girls basketball coach Jahn Kile was not going to let his team stumble this late in the season.
Going into Thursday’s game, the Hawkettes were fresh off winning the Centennial Conference tournament and two games away from a showdown with Lincoln Lutheran (14-6). According to Kile, Thursday’s game against Grand Island Central Catholic was a setup for a potential upset.
“It felt a little bit like a trap game with us coming off of the conference tournament. It’s been a long week of practice with the cold weather and what not. Coming on the road, I felt a little weary that it might happen,” Kile said. “But in the second half we did a good job of pulling away.”
