Dragons fall to Bulldogs in OT

Conference tournament game Friday at Adams Central.

This season has been quite the turnaround for the Deshler boys basketball team. The Dragons have nearly doubled their win total from last season and went into Friday's game against Shelton riding a five-game winning streak.

But the Bulldogs thwarted Deshler's plans of contending for a Twin Valley Conference championship, beating the Dragons 45-33 in overtime in the semifinals of the TVC tournament at Adams Central.

Trailing throughout the whole game took its toll on Deshler. Once the Dragons got into overtime, they had little left in the tank.

"It takes a lot of energy to play from behind all night," said Deshler head coach John Nash. "(Shelton) just matches up with us well. They have some guys that are hard for us to defend. When they shoot the ball like that, they can beat just about anybody."
