Hawkettes beat Patriots for eighth straight win

The Class C-2 No. 3 St. Cecilia girls had every reason to be nervous as they sat in their locker room with just a slim 30-29 halftime lead over cross-town rival Adams Central.

The Hawkettes had built a 14-point lead early in the second quarter, but the Patriots furiously rallied to cut it down to just the one point.

But St. Cecilia has played in plenty of big games this season, including a matchup recently in its conference tournament with Bishop Neumann, in which the team overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to win.

That experience showed in the second half.
