The race to the top of the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings has been exciting to follow the last few weeks.

A few different teams, including Hastings College, have manned the top spot at one point or another.

With just a few games left in the regular season, there is a sense of urgency to get a high seed.
The No. 5 Broncos (23-3, 14-3) solidified their second-ranked spot in the conference Wednesday with a dominating 82-47 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan (1-21, 0-17).

“The way it’s sitting right now, we should get a home game (in the conference tournament). It kind of depends on what everybody else does,” said Hastings College coach Carrie Hofstetter, whose team sits a half-game back of Concordia, a team it has beaten twice this season. “Our focus has been to make sure that we control what we can control — and that’s us. We have to make sure to take care of our own business.”
