St. Cecilia's Josie Prevette puts up a shot against Doniphan-
Trumbull's Hallie Tarnick in the Class C-2, Subdistrict 9 game
Tuesday night in Fairfield.
FAIRFIELD — The Doniphan-Trumbull girls basketball team had already played St. Cecilia prior to Tuesday's meeting, and the Cardinals were well aware of what was ahead of them.
The Hawkettes are loaded with athletes who can get out and run. They attack the basketball on defense and can push the floor quickly in transition.
D-T head coach Mark Davis told his team that they couldn't let STC control the game, like the Hawkettes did in their first meeting Dec. 7, 2012, in a 72-22 win.
But that's exactly what the Hawkettes did again from the very start en route to an 81-28 win in the semifinals of the Class C-2, Subdistrict 9 tournament at Sandy Creek High School.
Class C-2 No. 3 St. Cecilia (18-4) will battle Class C-2 No. 8 Blue Hill (18-3) for the subdistrict crown Thursday at 7 p.m. The Cardinals end their season at 4-18.
