The Adams Central boy’s basketball team has already endured a tough month of February.
Going into Thursday night’s game, AC’s previous three opponents had a combined record of 50-10. All three games ended in an Adams Central loss.
But the Patriots snapped the three-game skid after beating Class C-2 No. 8 Ravenna 70-64 Thursday, avenging a loss to the Bluejays in the LouPlatte Conference tournament.
“I’m very proud of our kids. We’ve had a tough stretch, losing six of our last eight before tonight, a lot of which were against very good teams. But our kids keep getting better and playing better,” said AC head coach Zac Foster. “Some teams that lose like that on a stretch of tough games, you start to see their confidence go down. Our kids just keep getting more confident.
“You want to be playing your best at the end of the year, and I think we’re getting there.”
The Patriots had the hot hand Thursday, shooting 50 percent or better from the floor in each quarter. The Patriots finished the game 10 for 18 (55.6 percent) from 3-point range.
