Concordia was bested by the vest.

The Hastings College men's basketball team hosted the Bulldogs in the final regular season home game of the season Wednesday, and head coach Lance Creech donned his iconic red Hastings College sweater vest — perhaps for the last time at Lynn Farrell Arena — and dozens of students wore sweater vests to honor the coach who has announced he is resigning following this season.

The Broncos didn't disappoint, developing a 21-point lead in the first half on the way to posting an 83-63 win over Concordia.

As the evening came to a close Wednesday, students changed out of their vests and wore T-shirts that spelled out "Thank You Creech."

For as much pomp and circumstance as there was surrounding the event, Creech said he didn't put much thought into how it was going to feel being the center of attention.

"Quite honestly, I didn't give it a lot of thought. It was tough to know that this game was in sight. Back when I made the announcement in October, it felt like an eternity away before you'd have an opportunity to even think about how it goes," the 11th-year HC head coach said. "You get so wrapped up in game planning, keeping kids healthy, planning practice. ... With all of those things, I really hadn't taken any time to figure out what I'm going to do and how I'm going to feel. It hasn't hit."
