OMAHA —
For the second straight year, Hastings High will be represented in the semifinals of the wrestling state tournament. But this year feels different. This year, the Tigers expected to be there.

Hastings High’s Nolan Laux and Brandon Kile both moved within one win of a finals appearance Thursday during Class A competition at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.

“I’m ecstatic, having those two in the finals,” HHS coach Brian Laux said.
After winning his first-round match via a major decision 18-6, the 106-pound Nolan Laux continued to wrestle aggressively and recorded a technical fall against Millard West’s Matt Torring in the quarterfinals.
