OMAHA —Thursday was a step in the right direction for a Kenesaw/Shelton team that is trying to make a name for itself as a program.
Kenesaw/Shelton has two wrestlers in the semifinals after juniors David Jimenez (106) and Michael Duffy (195) started the Class C state tournament with two wins each Thursday.
“We have a lot of blocks in place for next year. We had a lot of kids miss state by just a little. If the kids can see that we’re capable of that, we can continue to build off that,” K/S coach Joel Ferguson said. “(Jimenez and Duffy) are the fire that’s going to get this going. They’re good leaders.”
