OMAHA —
It’s been a quick state tournament for Franklin wrestler Mack James so far.

The 120-pound wrestler has been on the mat for a total of 3:12, ending both matches with pins on his way to the semifinals. James is one of two Flyers in the Class D semifinal round after Thursday’s competition with Dillon Schnuerle (145) also going 2-0 to start the tournament.

“Having two guys in the semis feels pretty good,” Franklin coach Ryan Hoffman said. “We were hoping both of them would be there. We kind of thought they would be, so this is kind of expected. They expected to be there.”

With two pins already in the tournament, Hoffman said James is wrestling well for the Flyers and it’s evident that the focus level of James is high. Hoffman also said James, who is now 37-5 on the season, makes for a tough matchup because of how good he is on his feet and in the top position.

Next up for James is Amherst’s Colten Bergt, who won the D-3 District and is 34-7 on the year.
