Cardinals end Flyers’ season

MINDEN — Doniphan-Trumbull girls basketball coach Mark Davis said his team likes running the floor and getting transition buckets. The Cardinals’ defense created plenty of opportunities for Davis’ team to do just that.

Big second and third quarters paved the way for Doniphan-Trumbull to defeat Franklin 59-28 in the play-in game of the Class C-2, Subdistrict 8 tournament.

“We’ve been trying to play a lot more pressure defense lately, and watching some film, we thought we could be successful throwing a half-court trap on (Franklin),” said Davis. “Playing fast is something we like to do, and that full-court pressure helps us do that.”
