GICC ends Patriots' season

Adams Central's Carly Bostock rebounds against Grand
Island Central Catholic's Meghan Krajicek in the Class C1,
subdistrict 9 game Tuesday night at Northwest High School.

GRAND ISLAND — Things looked grim for the Adams Central girls basketball team at the end of the first quarter of its sub-district tournament game against Grand Island Central Catholic.

Adams Central trailed GICC 13-6 at the end of the quarter, but put together a valiant comeback throughout the last three quarters, thanks to 3-point shooting.

When the final buzzer sounded, the Patriots' outside shooting wasn't enough to hold off GICC, as the Crusaders won 45-42 in a game played at Grand Island Northwest.

After two missed free throws by GICC with a little over five seconds left, Adams Central had one final chance to send the game into overtime with a long 3-pointer from Josie Bumgardner, but it did not connect.
