Turnovers doom Tigers

Hastings High's Addison Belau drives toward the basket
against Grand Island's Seth Roberg Tuesday in Hastings.

The Grand Island Islanders (5-16) led wire-to-wire in its 51-43 victory over Hastings High (7-13) Tuesday.

Turnovers down the stretch, in particular the fourth quarter, disallowed the Tigers to make a comeback.

"It's the same Achilles heel," Hastings High head coach Lance Creech said. "We're turning the ball over too much with another 20 turnovers tonight. In the last two games we've had 38 combined turnovers. We lose at the buzzer (Saturday) and lose by eight tonight."
