Minden's Rutt takes center stage

Minden's Quin Rutt wrestles Norfolk Catholic's Matthew Brtek
during their 160-pound Class C semifinal match of the state
tournament Friday at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.

OMAHA — Minden's Quin Rutt picked an opportune time to record his 100th career victory. The senior got the milestone win in the Class C, 160-pound semifinals, where he beat Norfolk Catholic's Matthew Bartek 20-4.

"It just seemed to be like that," Rutt said of his 100th win. "I totally forgot about it coming into state, but that's awesome."
Rutt dominated the semifinal match with half of Bartek's points coming when Rutt let him up.

The Whippets' senior will take on Battle Creek's Drew Lanman in the state finals, which begins at 3 p.m. today. While Rutt is happy to be where he is now, he also knows the job is not complete.
