Hawkettes win thriller to advance to state
KENESAW —Senior leadership showed up large for St. Cecilia's girls basketball team Friday, night helping guide the Hawkettes to a state tournament berth.
Four STC seniors combined for 43 points as the Hawkettes edged Wood River 65-63 in overtime to capture the Class C-2, District 5 championship and a trip to state.
"Our seniors stepped up big," said St. Cecilia coach Jahn Kile, who will be taking STC to state for the second time in three years. "We had a lot of girls make some big plays."
