OMAHA — In the Class A, District 4 tournament, Hastings High’s Brandon Kile lost his second match of the year to Omaha North’s Otis Rollins in a 6-4 decision.
When the two met again Saturday in the Class A 113-pound state championship at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Kile was determined to change the outcome.
The Tigers junior held on for a 12-10 victory, giving the HHS program its second state champion in the last two years.
“I’m just extremely proud of Brandon of how far he’s come from last year and the dedication and the hard work he’s put in,” said Hastings High’s head coach Brian Laux. “He’s very deserving of winning the state championship; he’s put the effort in.”
