Tegtmeier leads BDS to win

GENEVA — Bruning-Davenport/Shickley's Ryan Tegtmeier caught fire in the second quarter and Exeter-Milligan couldn't put out his flame.

Tegtmeier closed with 26 points, lifting the Eagles to a 49-37 victory Saturday in the Class D-1, Subdistrict 5 tournament title game.

BDS (21-3) will face Johnson-Brock Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Beatrice with a district championship and a state tournament berth at stake.

Tegtmeier was only smoke in the first quarter, putting up just two points while Exeter-Milligan drove to a 10-5 lead. But the BDS senior began burning the Timberwolves right away in the second period and closed with 12 points at the break.

The Eagles also clicked defensively in the second quarter, allowing E-M just four points en route to carrying a 22-14 lead into halftime.
