No. 2 Bluehawks defeat No. 4 Southern Valley

MINDEN — No. 2 St. Cecilia used 3-pointers at the beginning and free throws at the end Tuesday to defeat No. 4 Southern Valley 58-49 in a Class C2-8 subdistrict tournament game played at CLJ Middle School in Minden.

St. Cecilia set the tone in the first quarter using its 3-point shooting against the 2-3 zone of Southern Valley. The Bluehawks went 4-of-8 from behind the arc, which accounted for 12 of their 16 first quarter points. Sophomore Brooks Asher made three of those shots.

Meanwhile, Southern Valley’s point total in the first quarter was kept at eight.
