2 AC players, 1 Kenesaw on Senior Bowl roster

Two Adams Central players and one Kenesaw players have been selected to play in 2013 Nebraska Shrine Bowl.

Rosters for the 55th annual all-star football game were announced Monday, and AC's Jesse Ackerman and Jake Fowler and Kenesaw's Tyler Schnitzler will be on the South squad under head coach Bill Carlin of Adams Central.

The game will be June 1 in Kearney at the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Foster Field.

"(Fowler and Ackerman) earned their way in," Carlin said. "They are very good ball players and had great careers. It's exciting to have another opportunity to go to the field with them. It'll be a fun time."

The three Tribland players also will be there with their head coaches, as Craig Schnitzler of Kenesaw is one of Carlin's assistant coaches. Carlin's assistant at Adams Central, Shawn Mulligan, also is an assistant for the South team.

This is the first year of the Shrine Bowl in Kearney and just the third time it has not been played at Nebraska's Memorial Stadium. After the first Shrine Bowl was played at Rosenblatt Field in Omaha, it moved to Lincoln and was at Memorial Stadium every year but one — when it was at Seacrest Field because of construction at the Huskers' stadium.

There is a new NCAA rule that prohibits the game from being where the Huskers play their games.
