Broncos officially see season come to end; Creech's HC career over

Hastings College head coach Lance Creech instructs his

Lynn Farrell Arena. Creech has coached his last game at HC,
as the Broncos failed to qualify for the NAIA Division II
national tournament.

After the Hastings College men's basketball team's loss to Midland in the quarterfinals of the GPAC tournament, head coach Lance Creech knew the Broncos' chances of earning an at-large bid to the NAIA Division II national tournament were slim.

And he was right.

On Wednesday, Hastings College found out its season had officially come to an end after the national tournament qualifiers were announced.

"We were pretty aware that we had kind of let our best opportunities, the last month of the season, slip away," said Creech, who announced before the beginning of the season that this would be his last with the Broncos as he was resigning. "It was going to take a lot of help across the country from other conference tournaments for us to sneak in. It was a pretty disheartening, somber feeling after that Midland game."

After the loss to the Warriors, Creech had an honest talk with his players. He told them there was still a chance HC could make it, but it was a small one. While remaining optimistic, he also took the time to show his appreciation for the players and the hard fought season they had.
