Tigers fall to Holdrege

Hastings High's Annie Grealish puts up a shot against
Holdrege's Ashley Alber in the Class B5 district semi-final
Thursday night in Grand Island.

GRAND ISLAND — The Holdrege girls basketball team used a dominating offensive rebound effort to breeze by Hastings 58-37 Thursday in the Class B-5 district semifinals.
Holdrege had 15 offensive rebounds in the first half that allowed them to run out to a 36-18 lead at halftime.

"That (offensive rebounds) was the big thing coming in," Holdrege head coach BJ Blasé said. "A lot of Hastings' points come from second-chance points. I thought we did a nice job keeping them off the glass, and we attacked big time.

"I think we had 15 offensive boards in the first half. That was huge for us because we didn't shoot the ball that well in the first half. Then, we got to the line and inside, and that got us going."
