Smith Center native pleased with his college football career at K-State

As Heisman Trophy finalist Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein rushed into the end zone for touchdown after touchdown, those scores were often due to the hole Wildcat fullback Braden Wilson made by blasting through defenses.

Wilson, a Smith Center, Kan., native, will complete his K-State career Thursday night during the Fiesta Bowl at 7:30 p.m., taking on the Oregon Ducks.

“I’m pretty happy with the way the season has gone,” he said during a telephone interview Monday afternoon in the midst of the Wildcats’ media day. “We did have a hitch, but for the most part it’s been a fun, exciting season to play.”

That hitch was a 52-24 loss to Baylor on Nov. 17. Oregon lost that night, also, to Stanford; otherwise the two 11-1 teams may have been meeting for the BCS National Championship Game instead of the Fiesta Bowl.
