BPW chairman stepping down after 15 years

George Anderson is stepping down after 15 years on the Hastings Board of Public Works.

"I've been involved in a lot of things and that's one that was pretty great," he said of the utility board. "It's a great board to be on because it affects the community hugely."

Anderson was first appointed to the board in 1997 and advanced to the chairman position in 2001, a position he still holds today.

Thursday's meeting was likely his last, though. Anderson said, even if no one is appointed to fill his position, he plans to step down prior to the Jan. 17 meeting.
