HPS board elects new president

The new year brought a changing of the guard for leadership on the Hastings Board of Education.

During a special meeting Thursday, the board held elections for president and vice president for the 2013 year.

Former vice president Jim Boeve was elected to the president position over former president Jessica Meeske.

Both board members were nominated for the position and it took the board three votes to break a tie, with Boeve winning the vote 5-3.

Boeve was absent from the meeting, meaning there were only eight board members present.
