Projects proof of Hastings' continued growth

With the closure of three of its signature establishments last year — Garden Cafe, OK Cafe and Hometown Variety & Sherry's Cards & Gifts — the business climate in Hastings seemingly lost a step or two on its road to economic stability.

But with several large-scale projects in the mix, the forecast looks sunny and bright, said Kaleena Fong, executive director of Adams County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"I'm really excited for the future of this community," Fong said. "We're building on the things that are going to create more demand for restaurants and retail. The more we invest in our community and in our tourist attractions, the more visitors are going to help us sustain our restaurants and retail operations."
