CLAY CENTER — She would come in just to get her hugs.

That’s what Cindy Strasheim’s 95-year-old visitor told her during a recent visit to Strasheim’s office at the Clay County Extension Office, located in the basement of the Clay County Courthouse here.

“This lady told me, ‘I didn’t ever like hugs till I met you,’ ” Strasheim said. “She said when I met you I learned how to hug.”
Strasheim, 63, of Hastings retired Friday after 29 years as a Clay County extension educator.
