A county judge found probable cause to believe a woman who hit and kicked an unconscious man contributed to serious bodily injury.
Adams County Judge Robert Ide bound over the case against Amber Martinez, 20, of Broken Bow after a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
Police believe Martinez assaulted Patrick Hollis, 24, of 1228 N. Lexington Ave., after his roommate, Geoffry J. Eng, 25, beat him unconscious.
Martinez faces one charge of first-degree assault, characterized as an assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
Charly James, attorney for Martinez, argued that the victim had been unconscious and there was no proof that Martinez’s alleged attack caused serious bodily injury.
“At most, she’s guilty of third-degree assault,” he said.
