ROSELAND — The Village Hall in Roseland was painted hunter green Saturday night as dozens of men filed in after the third annual S&S Outdoors Coyote Calling contest.
Participants started as early as sunup Saturday morning and spent the day calling throughout the south central part of the state.
Wrapping up the competition, 31 of the 46 registered teams reconvened in Roseland Saturday to exchange stories and show their wares. Participants came from the Hastings area as well as towns across the southern and western parts of the state and into Kansas.
The event was organized in 2011 by longtime friends Seth Wengler and Shayne Evans, who have enjoyed the sport together since just after high school. Last year, only 25 teams participated, but the event has grown so popular, organizers predict they will have to move to a larger venue next year.
