Michele Henke shows off one of the many home
improvement projects she has tackled.
Doniphan resident Michele Henke has never met a home improvement project she didn't like.
The newly named executive director of United Way of South Central Nebraska has been tackling renovation and redesign projects in her home for more than a decade, following in the footsteps of her father, John Utecht, whom she regards as the consummate handyman.
"My first instinct is 'How am I going to do it?' not 'Who am I going to call to do it?' " the 39-year-old wife and mother of two said. "I just like updating."

The United Way office based in Hastings serves Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties, which Henke said not everyone realizes.
