Board OK’s $21.5 million bond issue

It’s now up to voters to decide if $21.5 million is a good deal for improving five elementary buildings in the Hastings school district.

On Monday, the Hastings Board of Education voted unanimously to move forward with a bond issue that would provide funding for major improvements that include renovations and new construction to the elementary buildings.

“I think this is something that we’ve needed for a long time,” said board member Jim Heyen. “We’ve talked about it and talked about it as long as I’ve been on the board. It’s time to get something done for our children.”
