The city of Hastings, the Community Redevelopment Authority and Hastings Utilities are joining together to hire a new attorney who will represent the three groups on a full-time basis.
Hastings City Administrator Joe Patterson said the city has worked with attorney Bob Sullivan for many years and has no problem with his work or the work of his brother Mike Sullivan, who has handled the city's issues with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Both Sullivan brothers have become very busy in their private practice in recent years and Patterson said it wouldn't hurt for the city to have an attorney available during the day to help with negotiations, staff issues or other situation in which litigation may be needed.
