HC students trek 50 miles pulling handmade wagon

ALONG THE OREGON TRAIL — Winds gusting to nearly 20 mph, temperatures in the teens and a series of flat tires couldn't stop one group of Hastings College students from reaching their goal.

As the final days of the J-Term at Hastings College wind down, many students are finishing their last papers, preparing for tests and another break before the second semester begins.

Those things were far from the minds of the 13 students involved in the Adventure Art class that gave them the opportunity to build a wagon and hike with it from Hastings College to the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney.

"I just wanted to do something different," junior Cam Penner of Lincoln said Monday.
