As the big, round start button is pushed, the sound of an electric whoosh fills the cabin and the various monitors come to life, creating a blue glow.
"Ice possible. Drive with care," the message on one monitor reads.
Another screen denotes how many miles of electric power and how many gallons of gas remain.
The vehicle, driven by Steve Cogley, customer relations coordinator as Hastings Utilities, is an electric car the utility company is leasing to learn more about this new technology.
