Council defeats plan to vacate Lake Hastings neighborhood exit

The city doesn't have any plans to create a second, western exit to the Lake Hastings neighborhood on Lakeridge Drive, but the completion of the road remains a possibility in the future following the action of the City Council Monday.

The council voted 6-2 against an ordinance that would have vacated the western-most portion of Lakeridge Drive in the North Shore Heights subdivison — northwest of Lake Hastings — and only retained the public utility easement there. The ordinance would have ensured that the currently undeveloped street would not connect to Baltimore Avenue in the future.
