Alex the Great uses a ladder to inflict pain on Brian Slade
during the main event match of the MWA pro wrestling
event Saturday at the City Auditorium.
Kicks, throws and body slams echoed through the Hastings City Auditorium as MWA Pro Wrestling returned Saturday night.
About 300 fans cheered for their favorites and booed at those they didn't like. Some fans noted a slow start, but by the third and fourth matches, they had been kicked into high gear.
Zach Nelson of Hastings has been a fan of WWE wrestling on television and enjoyed attending a live event. Seated at the back of the circle of chairs surrounding the ring set up in the middle of the auditorium, he found himself standing up to see the action.
"These guys are getting into character," he said. "It's a great time now."
Most matches ended up outside the ring with wrestlers thrown or flipped out. In one match, JB Payne told an audience member to move just before throwing his opponent into a chair.
