It was a sea of pale purple at the Hastings High/Adams Central basketball games Tuesday night.
While the school colors for the two teams don't include any shade of purple, orchid was the color of the night as the student sections for both schools were filled with students wearing "Beat Cancer" T-shirts.
T-shirts worn by players during warm-ups and fans during the game had the names of the two schools on the front. The back said "Two Schools, One Purpose, Beat Cancer."
Hastings High teacher Pete Theoharis said the T-shirts were the brainchild of a sophomore leadership class at Hastings High.
