There’s still time to get a flu shot even after two cases of a type of influenza have been diagnosed in the area.
The South Heartland District Health Department announced Thursday that both a toddler under age 3 and a young adult between the age of 20 and 25 have both tested positive for Influenza A 2009 H1N1.
This particular strain of flu had the greatest impact on young healthy people in 2009, and it appears to be having the same affect again this flu season, according to health department executive director Michele Bever.
“It’s the predominant strain across the country, so far,” Bever said this morning. “We’re seeing younger folks being impacted by this influenza strain.”
