Hastings High's Huy Truong pins Lincoln Northeast's Caleb
Mattox in their 138 pound match Thursday night at HHS.
The Hastings High wrestling team made quick work of Lincoln Northeast in its first home dual of the season Thursday.
The match lasted just 28 minutes, and HHS had three victories by pin in less than a minute en route to a 60-24 win at Hastings High.
After Hastings fell into an early 18-6 deficit, sophomore Travis Hartwig set the tone for the Tigers in the 220-pound match when he made a quick move and pinned Northeast's Devin Varejck in 30 seconds.
Two matches later, 106-pound sophomore Nolan Laux — a third-place finisher in the 2011 state tournament — needed just 19 seconds to pin Northeast's Jordan Schmidt. After four forfeit wins and a pin gave Hastings a comfortable lead, junior Kaleb Neugin worked an impressive turnaround move in the 145-pound match and eventually pinned Alex Wade in 56 seconds.
