Bluehawks fall to Gretna

The St. Cecilia boys basketball team got a late Christmas present to start the 2013 portion of its season. Ceasar Teano made his senior-season debut Thursday night when STC took on Class B opponent Gretna.

Unfortunately for Teano and the Bluehawks, the Dragons played the role of the Grinch and spoiled Teano's return from an injury he suffered during the football season.

St. Cecilia fell 50-41 to Gretna at Chapman Gymnasium. The Dragon defense caused STC fits, especially in the second half when Gretna (6-3) held the Bluehawks (3-5) to just six field goals.

"I think (Gretna's) talent rose in the third quarter. They did a good job of not letting us get into anything offensively," St. Cecilia head coach Kevin Asher said. "We just had a tough time getting an entry pass, a tough time breaking the trap and got a little passive."
